The X Factor USA: The World Meets Panda Ross
Panda Ross will officially be a household name after tonight’s The X Factor, and let’s hope it’s not because she had to leave the venue by ambulance!
After spending a week in the hospital with pneumonia, Panda had to come try out for The X Factor to meet her future “baby daddy” Simon Cowell. She was incredibly vocal about her love for the Brit, but only in the most adorable way. When she took stage she told Simon that she wore her “single” necklace just for him and he looked flattered. As she spoke, you couldn’t help but love Panda down to learning the origin of her unique name. Yes, her mother gave birth to her in jail (and was an African American) alongside her white jail mate. Her name derives from her mom’s time living here. In the end Simon was willing to giver her a chance saying, “I love pandas, so who knows.”
Now, at this point in the show you expect a disaster of a performance. However, Panda had this incredible voice that really did fit her appearance. She was full of soul and picked the perfect song for her audition. When it came to the second verse, she added humor, telling Simon about all the things she’d buy him with her $5 million prize. Now, Panda may not look like your average radio star, but let’s face it- she’s got the talent. Hopefully America can look past this and vote for TALENT.
- L.A. Reid: I can’t deny how good that was. That was really good and I love that song. Perfect song choice. You moved this room.
- Demi Lovato: I think you’re so funny. You’re such a character and your voice is so soulful. I loved every bit of it.
- Britney Spears: I thought you not only have a good voice, but you’re very charming. I was so completely entertained.
- Simon Cowell: Panda, you sound like a legend. That voice. Really. I absolutely love you.
It was an easy four yes’s to advance her to boot camp. The excitement became too much for her backstage though as her pneumonia kicked back in. She had to get oxygen from paramedics and leave via ambulance, exclaiming “I don’t want Simon to see me like this.”
Unreality Rating: 10/10. I LOVED the overall package Panda offers. Listening to her was so pleasant and entrancing as well.
