The Voice 2013: Patrick Dodd Performs “Walking in Memphis” (Video)
Patrick Dodd chose to perform “Walking in Memphis” for his blind audition on The Voice, and a more clever song choice couldn’t have been made. Patrick spends every night performing in Memphis to tourists and locals, sharing his love of music with the world.
As he performed Patrick brought a confidence and soul to stage we hadn’t seen yet tonight. There is gravel and rasp that makes him stand out against the comeptition. His voice is so unique that even Adam Levine turned around. It was a battle of Shakira vs. Adam for Patrick. Who would win?
Usher: You really shocked me. I was listening to the full range of your voice. You did great. You didn’t miss a note. You have two great coaches fighting over you.
Shakira: That was awesome. I really, really loved it. You have so much soul in your voice. The performance was effortless. The one thing that I would put at your service is my effort and stubbornness . I will put all the passion and focus at your service. When I set my mind at something I achieve it.
Adam Levine: I too, when I put my mind to something. The thing I envy most is the density and soul. I don’t have that. I sound like a girl when I sing. I have a lot of respect for that. I can share one thing with you. I have toured this country hundreds of times. I love you and I want you on my team.
Ultimately it was Adam Levine who Patrick chose as his coach.
