The Pretty Reckless return with My Medicine (new video)

Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless return with a filthy blues stomp in the form of new track, My Medicine.

Looking exquisitely stoned, Momsen swaggers (or staggers) around a house party featuring ill-advised tattoos, naked chicks and some very blurry camera footage. The song itself is a perfect ode to being off your face on your stimulant of choice. We’ll assume alcohol for the purposes of this review, but My Medicine could be referring to any Rock N’ Roll addictive substance.

Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen

"Ah...dude...I can't feel my legs..."

Did I mention I love this band? From Taylor Momsen’s classic rock growl to the grinding, bluesy guitar lines from Ben Phillips, this tune just seems to fit effortlessly among vintage rock’s best. My Medicine is a drunken, lairy, sexy train wreck of a song, and the video does a fantastic job of bringing the lyrics to life. I know Taylor likes to go heavy on the mascara, but she went to town with it on this tune.

Another thing worth noting here is that the band didn’t feel the need to amp it up to 11 and give us a (more than welcome) rehash of Make Me Wanna Die. The vibe on this track is less combustible, but the power comes from everybody holding back and delivering a sultry vibe rather than a crashing powerhouse sound. They made a minor mis-step recently releasing the slowed down acoustic You, but My Medicine puts The Pretty Reckless back on top in my eyes.

Talking point: Are any of you concerned that Taylor should be portrayed at a party, off her face on something hallucinogenic?
