The Glee Project Returns Summer 2012 on Oxygen
Did you watch The Glee Project last season as 12 contestants competed for a guest starring role on the Fox dramedy? Good news! Oxygen announced the show is making a return this summer for its second season.
The first season was such a success that it drew in over 1 million viewers each week- this is incredible for a cable network. Damin McGinty and Samuel Larsen were crowned winners, appearing in seven episodes of Glee each this year, while Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell were runner-ups, winning a guest spot in two episodes each.
“The Glee Project is a special show that has tapped into a desire in our culture to watch people go for an achieve their dreams,” Oxygen President Jason Klarman said in statement.
Casting director Ryan Murphy, choreographer Zach Woodlee and vocal coach Nikki Anders will also be returning for the sophomore season. Fans can expect a few changes this year. Instead of only 12 contestants, producers are adding two more contestants on the mix. Currently casting director and producers Ryan Murphy, Dante Di Loreto, and Robert Ulrich are scouting the country for contestants.
Just when can you expect The Glee Project’s anticipated return? The network has no official debut date, but assures fans it will be on in early summer. However, the network did confirm that Glee’s Lea Michele will appear on the second season premiere as a mentor!
