Supernatural ‘Citizen Fang’ Producer’s Preview
Jeremy Carver describes this week’s episode of Supernatural, “Citizen Fang” as “a pretty special episode that delivers somewhat of an emotional punch.”
That scares me.
Watch the producer’s promo clip, then we’ll talk.
First off, I must admit to being a bad fangirl. I had no idea that the hunter Sam hires to follow Benny is the same Martin we met in “Sam, Interrupted.”
I like when they bring back characters that make sense and this one does. Last week, I couldn’t understand why they bothered making Fred a hunter the boys knew. But here, it totally figures that Sam would go to someone they know who owes them a favor.
But let’s not forget that when we last saw Martin, he was in a mental hospital, so can we really trust his judgement?
Here’s another clip:
Is it me, or does it seem like Sam hesitates when Dean asks if Martin said Benny was the killer. There’s the slightest twitch in Sam’s face before he says yes. So. . . .maybe Martin wasn’t really clear about that and Sam made the leap?
What I don’t like about this clip is the implication that Dean is going to have to decide between doing his job and protecting his friend.
Dean’s got a very wide double standard. This is the guy who killed Amy after all, because she MIGHT kill again after she did it to save her son. But when it suits him, he’s happy to let a monster walk.
For Sam, it’s almost like he’s hoping that Benny’s a bad egg just so he can kill him in good conscience. And I don’t think it’s about doing his job or protecting his brother. I think, deep down, it’s about giving Dean a taste of his own medicine. (How many cliches can I pack into this post?)
What do you think? Are Benny’s hours numbered? Will Dean have to do the deed or will Sam? And if Sam runs the stake through Benny’s heart, will Dean ever forgive him?
Oh yes, this one is going to hurt.
