Stone Martin makes an impact on The X Factor USA with Little Things
Stone Martin may well have made one of the smartest auditions of the night in North Carolina. For his debut X Factor USA appearance, he hit the stage with an early-years Bieber haircut, and elected to sing One Direction’s Little Things. This kid knows exactly which market he’s selling to and it isn’t to thirtysomething reality TV bloggers like me!
The ploy worked well for the young singer, drawing shrieks from the teens in the audience. Seriously. He would point his finger at some girl in the audience, and they’d instantly do this:
Stone kept the vocal gymnastics to a minimum, displaying a nice mix of sweetness and vulnerability. He didn’t rip up the stage either, preferring to let the music speak for itself. You could almost feel the fanbase building on Twitter!
What the judges said:
- Kelly Rowland: I love you. I think since you’re just 14, you’re still getting to know your voice. You’ve only scratched the surface, baby.
- Demi Lovato: I think you’re so cute. You’re so charming. I was looking at the audience, and these little girls over here, they’re dying. And they’re freaking out that you’re looking at them and this is your first time on stage.
- Paulina Rubio: Stone Martin. I think your life is about to change forever.
- Simon Cowell: Stone. I think you’ve got an incredible like-ability about you. But you’ve also got this star glow about you. I really really like you.
We agree with Kelly Rowland, Stone Martin has just scratched the surface of what he can do vocally. He’s cute, marketable, and he reminds us of a pre-douchebag Justin Bieber with a hint of One Direction adorability thrown in for good measure. Can you see him making The X Factor USA live shows this year? Let us know in the comments!
