Spartacus Vengeance Season Finale: Wrath Of The Gods spoilers and pics

Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) in Wrath Of The Gods

Spartacus prepares to hack his way through an entire Roman legion

By all accounts, tonight’s finale of Spartacus: Vengeance will be an utter bloodbath. Sure, you say. It’s a bloodbath in every episode!

Ah, my friends, tonight a number of major characters will fight their last battles, romp in their last orgies and stab their friends in the back one final time. No, we don’t know who’s going to die, and we wouldn’t tell you even if we did. We’re smug that way. But Wrath Of The Gods should give Spartacus his most action-packed hour yet.

It’s a tall order for the show. I remember the finale of Blood And Sand, and Spartacus running up Crixus’ shield to murder Batiatus. The rebellion in the House Of Batiatus was one of the most brutal, perfectly executed pieces of television I’ve ever seen. So, Wrath Of The Gods has much to live up to!

As you know, the rebel gladiators suffered a major setback in the previous episode, Monsters. The Spartacus finale sees the Thracian general trying to rally his dispirited troops. On the slopes of Vesuvius, he gives them a Braveheart moment:

Nothing in this world is impossible when heart and mind are put towards it. We are all Gods this night, and the Romans shall feel our wrath!

Stirring stuff. The spoiler video for the finale shows Glaber and his army meeting Spartacus in battle in the forests where much of this season’s action has played out. There’s clearly a ‘cunning plan’ afoot as the gladiators mount a surprise attack – seemingly on Glaber’s dwelling. On the positive side, we see Oenamaus and Gannicus sharing a brotherly look during a battle. Because killing Romans makes everything alright.

Finally, we’re bursting to know how the storyline between Lucretia and Ilythia will end – in the teaser clip above, we can see Ilythia crawling toward Lucretia on her hands and knees, while Batiatus’ widow has that pitying, sympathetic look on her face that usually precedes her killing someone. Well, that’s my prediction anyway.

Naevia - surely a dead cert to die tonight?

Spartacus Vengeance: Ilithyia (Viva Bianca) & Lucretia (Lucy Lawless)

Has Ilythia worked out that she's Spartacus' baby mama yet?

Got room for one more clip from tonight’s finale? ‘Course you do.

Spartacus: Vengeance stars Liam McIntyre as Spartacus, Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, Manu Bennett as Crixus, Nick E. Tarabay as Ashur, Viva Bianca as Ilithyia and Craig Parker as Gaius Claudius Glaber. Dustin Clare also reprises his role as Gannicus from Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
