Song Of The Day: Benjamin Francis Leftwich's 'Shine'

Benjamin Francis Leftwich - ShineWe’ve been following singer/songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich closely for the last year, but we think that his new single Shine might be the one that finally breaks him into the mainstream.

It’s a pleasure to be able to introduce this song, with its layers of delicate arpeggios and romantic lyrics. Sure, we’ve heard a thousand acoustic ballads, but this one has a unique softness to it while carrying a ‘lighters in the air’ chorus that’s as anthemic as it is beautiful. The single is accompanied by a suitably autumnal video shot by Leftwich’s good friend Pip, which captures the singer as the embarked on his recent tour.

Check out the tune, and we’ve got more Leftwich information for you after the jump!

Rising star: Leftwich has been getting noticed a lot lately. His music has been featured on Radio 1 and XFM’s Album Of The Week slots and also on BBC 6 Music. And Aussie talent spotter scored him the Hottest Record In The World recently too. If you’re a hopeless romantic with a penchant for mellow acoustic love songs, Benjamin Francis Leftwich is the one to watch.

Get the album: Shine is the third single from Leftwich’s debut album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm. It’s released on 7th November. Wanna hear more Leftwich? Check out his YouTube page for official videos and other bits and bobs. Don’t forget to stalk him on Twitter, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Catch him live: Benjamin’s just wrapped up a massive 28-date October tour, but you can catch him live in the new year. He’s playing the Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 22nd February. Highly recommended.
