Seth MacFarlane and Neil Patrick Harris Stare Each Other Down in first photo from A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST
Seth MacFarlane is a truly demented individual, but he’s also incredibly talented. Over the last 10 years or so, the funnyman has created a hit animated show, recorded an album, hosted the Academy Awards, and directed a hit movie. So what do you do when you’ve got nothing left to prove? You make another movie.
And so it is, MacFarlane’s next film, the comedy-western A Million Ways To Die In The West, is heading into theaters this May. It stars MacFarlane, Neil Patrick Harris, Amanda Seyfried, and Charlize Theron, and here’s the official story synopsis courtesy of Universal Pictures:
After a cowardly sheep farmer (MacFarlane) backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman (Theron) rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. When her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.
Today, Universal unveiled the first official photo from the film featuring all four main cast members, and as expected, Neil Patrick Harris looks amazing. Take a look:
Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Liam Neeson co-star in the film, which automatically makes it one of the top comedies to watch for this year.
MacFarlane struck gold with his directorial debut, the 2012 comedy Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. The film was a box office hit, drawing in a staggering $550 million worldwide, and cementing MacFarlane’s status as a fierce competitor in the film world. It’s not surprise that Universal was keen on pushing A Million Ways To Die In The West into production quickly, and it will no doubt draw in some big numbers on it’s own. MacFarlane wrote the script with Family Guy writers Wellesly Wild and Alec Sulkin. After the release of this film, MacFarlane will move right into production on Ted 2, which Universal is aiming for release in June 2015.
I wasn’t a huge Ted fan like everybody else was, but I appreciated it’s intent and craftsmanship. MacFarlane is definitely a funny guy, and I hope this new film gives him a chance to expand his tastes a little bit. Is this film on your 2014 Must-Watch list?
