American Idol: Reis Kloeckener sings Lean On Me in St Louis audition (VIDEO)

American Idol Season 11 contestant(?) Reis Kloeckener

Reis Kloeckener auditioned for American Idol in St. Louis. The 20 year old student sang the old soul classic Lean On Me, originally by Bill Withers.

Reis’s rendition of Lean On Me showcased a clean vocal sound. He was on tune, could sound positively soulful at times, and had none of the twang that might mark him as a country artist (sorry, but judging on that checked shirt…). The judges pulled the appropriate ‘satisfied’ faces as Reis sang.

Steven Tyler told St Louis native Reis that his singing was “so beautiful you made me cry. That’s how good you were just now. You made me tear up and get all crazy inside.”. Randy and Jennifer both add to Steven’s yes and send a triumphant Reis through to Hollywood round. After the audition, Reis tells Ryan that the audition experience felt “pretty amazing”.

Our only problem is trying to work out what he might sing as an artist – his voice might not be strong enough to blow an audience away. But he could potentially be a pop artist in the vein of Justin Bieber.

Reis tells us about how he was bullied in a public high school and debated dropping out until a teacher convinced him to join the choir in his senior year.
