Pharrell Williams to perform ‘Happy’ at The Oscars next month
Awards season in America is well underway and The Oscars will return Sunday March 2nd featuring a performance from Pharrell Williams.
The Oscars producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced earlier this morning that Pharrell Williams will perform his Oscar-nominated song ‘Happy’ which had been written for hit animation movie ‘Despicable Me 2′.
The track, which topped the charts recently in the UK is nominated for ‘Original Song’ at The Oscars and is up against ‘Ordinary Love’ from ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’, ‘Let It Go’ from ‘Frozen’ and ‘The Moon Song’ from ‘Her’.
In his career Pharrell Williams has managed to win seven GRAMMY Awards (two in 2004 and 2014 for ‘Producer of the Year’).
Billboard have also named him ‘Producer of the Decade’ back in 2010 and his productions have been purchased over 100 million times.
Last year Pharrell Williams collaborated on two of the biggest singles of 2013 including ‘Blurred Lines’ from Robin Thicke and ‘Get Lucky’ from Daft Punk.
Pharrell Williams doesn’t just work alone however as he occasionally works as part of producing team The Neptunes and over the years he has had a role in creating some of the biggest hits.
Some of the work he’s had a role in include Snoop Dogg’s ‘Drop it Like it’s Hot’, Nellys ‘Hot In Here’, Justin Timberlakes ‘Like I Love You’ and Britney Spears’ ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’.
