Meet Anja, the Norwegian singer who wants the world to ‘Dance All Nite’

Anja - Dance All Nite singer

We love Scandanavian singers, but have to admit that we had them all pegged as bearded folksy acoustic maestros. So when we discovered Anja, whose single Dance All Nite has been featured in the Just Dance 3 game, those preconceptions were shattered forever.

The sexy blonde Norwegian is one of a growing number of pioneering musicians who are finding new ways to get their music in front of audiences. Some ambitious bands are trying to get their music featured in advertising campaigns, while others  know that having their music included in computer games is a great way to get exposed to new audiences. Anja is part of this second trend: Just Dance 3 has shifted 8 million units, and Dance All Nite is featured on the game, which is a huge new audience for any artist.

Interestingly, Anja has partnered with Ubisoft – the makers of Just Dance – and Circle Road Records to record her debut album in Montreal. We’re not sure if this is the first time an artist has made an album with a games company, but the opportunities for new methods of distribution are genuinely exciting. It could be that Anja is leading the music industry in an innovative new direction.

Anja’s enigmatic story is equally as interesting as her current adventures in pop. The singer grew up in the Norwegian countryside, far from the bright lights of the music scene, but clearly keen to be a part of it. She’s actually a graduate of the Paul McCartney School in Liverpool, where she received her degree in Performing Arts Music in 2009. And, according to this article, Anja moved to LA shortly after covering Michael Jackson’s funeral for a music magazine.

We’re excited to see where the singer goes from here, but for now check out the steamy video for Dance All Nite

For those of you who are interested (we were), Anja’s full name is Anja Helen Fagerli. You’re welcome :)
