Mary J. Blige Jumps Ships From American Idol to The Voice as Celebrity Mentor
With four Primetime Emmy nominations under their belt, The Voice is going even bigger with celebrity mentors this season. Last year the show introduced this X Factor-esque characteristic to the show with Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert helping Team Blake, Babyface and Ne-Yo with Team Cee Lo, Lionel Richie and Jewel with Team Christina and Robin Thicke and Alanis Morrisette as mentors for Team Adam.
Team Adam is proud to announce this year Mary J. Blige will offer her professional insight to Adam’s rising stars. Mary J. Blige is no stranger to mentoring as she has worked on American Idol in a similar position. Adam Levine is excited to welcome her to his team. “I’ve always been a huge fans of Mary J. Blige,” he told Rolling Stone.
She was equally as thrilled with the news stating, “I love Adam. He’s amazing. I’m so happy to be working with him and his team.”
Earlier this week we reported that Michael Buble is confirmed as an unlikely mentor for Team Blake. There is no word on any other mentors that will work with the teams.
The Voice returns Sept. 10 at 9/8c on NBC with the first round of blind auditions.
