It’s no secret that Ryan Seacrest’s American Idol contract is up at the end of the season. People are already talking about will he renew or won’t he? Especially since Matt Lauer is also leaving The Today Show and they want Ryan Seacrest!

NBC denies that Matt Lauer has plans to leave, but sources close to the show say he’s had enough of early morning TV and won’t renew his contract when it ends. Since Ryan Seacrest is such a personable household name, insiders feel he’d be a perfect fit for the show.

It’s not even a question if he’d get the job, it’s if he’d take the job when offered. The biggest hurdle for the host would be moving from his home in Los Angeles, which he so publicly loves, and move to New York. I’d think it’d be more painful getting up at 2:30 a.m. to be on air by 7 a.m. while balancing other TV hosting gigs like his job as E! correspondent and as host of his radio show.

No word from Ryan Seacrest’s camp on the matter.. So far.
