Hawaii Five-O Season 3: ‘Pa’ani’ Review
In honor of Valentine’s Day, bromance was in the air on this week’s episode of Hawaii Five-O.
Danny and Steve could hardly get past their glee when they scored tickets for the All-Pro football game. I’m a hockey girl, myself, but I loved watching these two bicker over who was the greatest quarterback of all time. As Kamekona says, it’s like deciding who was the greatest rock band of all time – the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. And of course, Steve and Danny each come down on opposites sides of that argument, too.
NFL Running Back Arian Foster of the Houston Texans tested his acting chops (with so-so results) as an innocent bystander who got pulled into a murder plot when he jumped to the defense of a damsel in distress.
Which reminds me, there was an actual crime to investigate but it wasn’t as interesting as Steve and Danny’s football moments. A high tech exec gets murdered while playing fantasy war games and it leads the team to a con artist who was after something worth more than her usual wallet full of cash – a flash drive of tech specs.
But the corporate thief isn’t the only one interested in the information. Turns out the gadget doesn’t work and that’s going to cost the company their funding unless the owner can keep a lid on the secret.
Magnum P.I. star Larry Manetti put in some time as a lounge singer who helps the guys track the con artist. It was good to see him, but the character was too cliche for my liking.
I loved when Catherine flashed her All-Pro tickets at Steve, only to be turned down because he had plans to see the game with Danny. I almost fell off the couch when Catherine called them on their bromance.
Best line of the night:
Danny to Steve — Working with you is harrowing enough. I do not need you hunting me for sport.
Best stunt of night:
Steve tackling the bad guy by jumping from one escalator to another. Seriously, how did the stuntman not get hurt doing that.
Best bromance moment: A tie between
Danny giving up the football game to go to the hospital with Steve. (It was his shoulder, he wasn’t bleeding out!)
Steve making Danno’s dream come true by throwing a pass to him on the football field. So cute.
The Five-O team is taking a few weeks off so they’ll be airing reruns into March. ;(
