It’s 2036, and the world has been taken over by a race of bald-headed fedora wearing men. We’re still not sure at exactly what point the Observers in Fringe stopped observing and took over the planet, but one thing’s for sure: they’re not your all-smiling elected officials.

In the latest set of viral teaser videos for the fifth and final season of Fringe, one of the Observer leaders – Windmark – calmly reams off protocols and rules for their human subjects – including a nice callback to the season 4 episode titled Letters Of Transit. We couldn’t help sniggering at the rather unsubtle meditation muzak, which was presumably designed to soften the message, despite the drab, desaturated backdrop and Windmark’s bleak message.

But all is not lost, cowering readers. Because intercut with these monotonous propaganda videos are posters for the revolution (no reference to the NBC show intended)! If you look carefully, you’ll see two different types of poster here: one with a silhouette of an Observer and a skull overlaid on top. The message underneath reads “End The Oppression”.

The second is three skeletal soldiers, tanks in red, white and blue, and the slogan “Take Back America”. Who said you couldn’t have fun freeze-framing videos on your computer and hitting “Print screen”?
