Warning: The brutal onslaught you are about to hear is not for the faint hearted. I Am War is the brainchild of Atreyu frontman Alex Varkatzas singing and Bleeding Through vocalist Brandan Schieppati.

Since coming together as I Am War, Varkatzas and Schieppati have been working on a series of demos and have an as-yet untitled demo album planned for release in 2012. The band have recently signed with Razor & Tie, and talking about their signing, Varkatzas gave a little insight into the musical direction of this new partnership:

We feel like they fully understand the musical intentions of I Am War, and we couldn’t be more excited about our future. I am personally looking forward to making the most extreme record I have ever been a part of.  We are looking forward to creating an album filled with super aggressive, heavy, energetic metallic, raw, punky hardcore. The kind of music that boils your blood and inspires you to get up and move,

And to give the world a taster of what grinding, extreme tones to expect, I Am War have released a rough cut of The Poisoning. The end result is a punishing mix of throat-ripping growls and pounding staccato guitars that finishes with the powerful line “You can’t take the fight out of me.” It feels like a challenge. We’ve been watching Razor & Tie with interest for the past year or so, and they’re clearly aiming to be one of the LOUDEST record labels on the planet. I Am War  will certainly fit in well with the other acts on their roster. To keep an eye on this band, here are the links you need:
