American Idol's Phillip Phillips Returns to the Stage, Goes Gold With "Home"
It’s been less than two months since Phillip Phillips was crowned season 11’s American Idol. Following his win the 20-year-old underwent major kidney surgery, recovered and is now making his media rounds while appearing on the American Idols Live! summer tour. Today Phillip shared with his Twitter followers that he spent the entire day filming the official video for his first single, “Home.”
Had a long day of shooting the music video for “home”. Going to be pretty neat i think. So tired though.
Though Phillip is just filming the video, his single has seen great success since winning Idol. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that “Home” officially went gold this week, hitting the 500,000 sales mark (but let’s remember, American Idol is dying). Aside from the single being such a success, this week his second compilation EP hit Walmart. “Phillip Phillips- Season 11: Highlights” entered the Billboard charts at number 25, selling 20,000 units its first week. This follows his debut on the charts the week after winning Idol with “Journey to the Finale.” His first EP entered the charts at #11 according to Billboard.
While Phillip celebrates his success, he’s busy making the rounds performing at the MLB All Stars game.
His official “comeback” after surgery was at the annual July Fourth Celebration at the National Mall in Washington D.C.
It’s great to see Phillip back in good health doing what he does best.
Will you be heading out to see Phillip Phillips on tour this summer with the other American Idol Top 10 contestants?
