David Boreanaz reassures Bones fans he’s not leaving! Says “keep it real”!
Rumours that Bones star David Boreanaz wants to leave the hit show after nine seasons have been floating around for the last year or so. And while it boggles the minds of us mere mortals that an actor would want to walk away from a massively successful serial, it’s not inconceivable that Boreanaz might want to walk away and get into a new role.
Still, fans of the show took the opportunity to grill the star during a Twitter Q&A yesterday, asking him outright if he’d be returning for Season 10 of Bones. To which the actor replied: “yes, if we get picked up”. And of course, Bones is such a fan favourite show that it’s almost a certainty that it’ll be back for a tenth season.
Earlier today, Boreanaz followed up on his previous statement to fans, tweeting that he’s got a contract and absolutely loves the show. This doesn’t feel like a half-hearted rebuttal – it feels like he’s planning to stick with the show for the foreseeable future.

The question is, I suppose, could Bones survive without Booth? Given that he’s been a key character since the very beginning of the series, and that he’s currently engaged to Brennan (Emily Deschanel), it would be a massive upset to the show to lose him now. Let’s face it, folks, Brennan and Booth are one of the best double acts on television at the moment as their turn as a Brooklyn couple at a retreat a couple of weeks back proved. We wouldn’t want this show any other way, right?
The ninth season of Bones is currently airing on FOX, and the numbers are holding firm for the deliciously gruesome crime drama. A tenth season could well happen, but how long can a procedural series like this run for and what would be a good way to wrap up the characters’ story arcs? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!
