Betrayal spoilers: This Road Isn’t Even On The Map
Things went a little too smoothly in this week’s episode of Betrayal, didn’t they? In the aftermath of both spouses finding out about their affair, Jack and Sara set about settling into their new lives. Sara confessed to her husband that Jack wasn’t just a fling – that she has feelings for him – and Jack floundered around trying to connect with his upset children on their birthday.
Can we really expect Jack and Sara to settle into their new lives so easily? The teaser clip for the next episode, This Road Isn’t Even On The Map (what does that title even mean?), suggests that the pair are about to hit a few bumps in the road.
To be honest, I felt that One More Shot finally established that Jack and Sara have a genuine bond. That’s been a big criticism of Betrayal that I’ve read, and it’s been valid. But in the aftermath of breaking up with their respective partners, it’s been nice to see the couple find some comfort in each other. Anyway, watch the preview for next week’s episode, and let’s talk about what might be about to happen:
So, it looks like the henchman that Karsten killed at the end of One More Shot has been discovered. It’s not entirely clear whether this puts Karsten in the frame – it was certainly sloppy in that he didn’t dispose of the body – or whether it was a deliberate setup to implicate Jack. Either way, there’s a murder charge and Drew (naturally) gets involved in the case.
This could be interesting, because Drew already has an axe to grind with the Karsten family after discovering the link between TJ, the Impala and the gun. But more importantly, this is his shot to implicate Jack and potentially discredit his love rival once and for all. Can Sara love a killer?
If the remainder of the trailer is anything to go by, Sara is going to witness a few of Jack’s clandestine meetings, which might make her suspicious of him, introducing a little distrust into their relationship. As I mentioned a couple of weeks back, I think the affair has made Jack take a step back and think about the kind of man he wants to be. The bigger question is how will he deal with a potential murder charge and Sara discovering the range of shady things that he’s done in the service of the Karstens?
