Inspiring, touching, shocking and hilarious are just four words you could use to describe “America’s Got Talent” contestant Granny G.

Impersonation is the best form of flattery, if done correctly.
Dave Burleigh was the first comedian of the evening on “America’s Got Talent,” using another popular reality show as a platform. The comedian explained that he specializes in celebrity impressions. The beginning of his skit was cute as he impersonated “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron introducing the “stars” on the show. Read more & comment »

At least one time tonight everyone held their breath during “America’s Got Talent.” 17-year-old Cristin Sandu took stage with a gift unlike anyone else tonight, boasting that he could build a structure and balance on it way above the stage.
Cristin built a structure of beams, chairs and tubes before climbing to the top of the massive structure. He stretched across the top and held the pose, leaving the judges impressed, but uncertain if it was the right act to win $1 million. Howie Mandel made the best point when he noted that it took more time to build the structure than complete the entire act. However, this was an interesting part of his performance. One area in which America’s Got Talent excels is in bringing incredible new combinations of dance and art to the public. Last year it was Silhouettes, and this year we’ve got Light Wire Theatre.
Before the performance, Nick Cannon stepped in to warn the audience that they’d be killing all the lights in the theatre and not to be groping their neighbours. And then the Light Wire people bounced onto the stage. They seem to have custom made costumes that create the impression of lit-up line drawings. Two T-Rex’s battled it out on stage, and were briefly replaced with three enormous dancing flowers. The dinosaurs then returned to the stage.

Obviously this year, America’s Got Talent is well aware that dance troupes are a dime a dozen. In her pep talk to Elements Dance Cru, the choreographer is seen telling the girls that they need to stand out or they’ll be just like everybody else.
Even Sharon Osbourne notes this when she asks Elements’ leader what makes them so different. The answer’s a good one – she says “We take clogging, but then we adapt it to different styles of music and add a theme and even some different styles of music within it. So it’s very unique.”

William Close appeared on America’s Got Talent last night to perform with his own home-made musical instrument. Called the “Earth Harp”, it’s actually the longest stringed instrument in the world.
Accompanied by a percussionist, William’s incredible music stunned the judges into silence. Even the audience were enthralled by the performance, and William had no problem sailing through to the next stage of the competition with three yeses from the judges.

We’ve seen contortionists and people doing incredible things with their bodies on America’s Got Talent before, but Sanjula Vamana might just have pushed us beyond what we can comfortably bear.
Dressed in Indian headgear and accompanied by a bongo player and a Gothic assistant, Sanjula proceeded to stick enormous needles through the skin of his cheeks. Obviously aware of how uncomfortable his act was to watch, the entertainer proceeded to prod the needles with his tongue, testing the nation’s gag reflexes to their absolute limits.

Nick Cannon shot down any rumors that “America’s Got Talent” is anything but a fun, relaxed show this season for naysayers. Last season tensions were at their highest on the show as Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel were constantly at each other’s throats through comments and practical jokes. This season fans can expect a different aura around the judges according to the host. Read more & comment »

This week American Idol started off on a light note as the top five headed over the TMZ offices to learn media training. The highlight of the segment was a tie between the crew telling Phillip Phillips to work Jennifer Lopez calling him sexy (“one word- Casper Smart”) and the guys telling Skylar Laine their website says she is dating Colton Dixon, despite her denial.
