America’s Got Talent 2012 Finalists: Our Top 5 Picks
In just two weeks America’s Got Talent returns from its Olympics hiatus with 12 contestants competing in the coveted semifinals. The competition is tough as many fan favorites made it through, including one wild card. After four quarter-semifinals episodes, these seventeen contestants made it through:
- All That (wild card pick)
- All Wheel Sports
- David Garibaldi and his CMYK’s
- Donovan and Rebecca
- Eric Dittelman
- Jacob Williams
- Joe Castillo
- Lightwire Theater
- Olate Dogs
- Shanke and Maurice Hayes
- The Scott Brothers
- The Untouchables
- Tim Hockenberry
- Tom Cotter
- William Close
Of these seventeen contestants five truly stick out against the others. Judges Howie Mandell and Howard Stern really feel that this year for the first time a comedian may take home the $1 million prize. Though I agree it is highly possible, I can’t help but think that it is the year of the dog. Ashleigh and Pudsey won Britain’s Got Talent and are now gracing American TV with their talent, and I think that the Olate Dogs could take home the American bragging rights. These dogs are incredible and memorable. There’s few tricks that these dogs can’t do.
I think that the runner-up position could go to a comedian. My money is on Jacob Williams from Chicago because he’s just like an average guy on the street, joking about real life problems. His jokes are just odd enough that they make you uncomfortable, but leave you wiping your eyes at times as well.
Singer Tim Hockenberry will probably make it to third place because America is burned out on singing competitions. If he was on AGT two years ago, things may be different. However, this year fans seem to be more interested in non-singing acts. Why will Hockenberry make it to third place? His story is inspiring and he’s just gravely enough to be different than contestants on The Voice or American Idol.
Eric Dittelman reads minds and blows our every time he is on AGT. Though his talent is incredible, I think that he gets lost in more “popular” talents such as singing and dancing. Does he deserve the million dollar prize? Yes! Will he get it? Not likely.
The judges also feel that the dancing category includes some of the best dancers and troupes they have ever seen. This is why I think The Untouchables will round out the top five. This group of Latin dancers is not only talented, but adorable. The youngest member is only eight years old, yet they dance better than most adults that have auditioned!
Who do you think we will see in the top five on America’s Got Talent?
