Ryan Seacrest opened Thursday’s American Idol result show with an announcement pointing out the obvious absent of American Idol hopeful, Casey Abrams. “You’ll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now. Wave to him.”

According to multiple sources, Abrams was hospitalized for the second time this season for a second series of blood infusions. The Idol favorite tweeted to his fans, “Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better.”

Early Thursday evening Abrams was rushed to the Cedars Sinai Hospital after complaining of stomach pains. The 20-year-old reportedly suffers from ulcerative colitis- a form of irritable bowel syndrome. This specific form causes sores on the colon and intestine.

People magazine reports Abrams received two blood transfusions before the pain subsided. Via Twitter Abrams gave thanks to those around him, “People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good.”

Lucky for Abrams his absence had no effect on the results as he easily made his way into the top 12. Best of luck to Casey and hope he feels 100 percent soon!
