What an intense night over at American Idol! No one really knew how the show would play out as fan favorites, such as Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon, were voted off far too early in the competition. It was down to Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez for the final three. Read more & comment »

Tonight on American Idol the judges wanted Phillip Phillips to show that he can stick with a melody. This is why they chose “Beggin’” for his judges selection. Steven Tyler explained that Phillip loves to make his own, but needs to appreciate melodies that do exist. Phillip brought the song to life. I had never heard that song and am the type of person to lose interest in any music I don’t know well, but I was completely into it. The song had swag, jam and pop all rolled into one. The entire crowd was clapping along and nearly drowning him out with scream at the end. Read more & comment »

Jessica Sanchez started her night on American Idol off on a bad note. The judges chose Mariah Carey’s “My All” for Jessica to sing to show that she can sing powerful ballads, but also show a softer side. What an awful, awful mistake for the judges. Read more & comment »

It’s down to the final three on American Idol. Who could impress America tonight to make it to next week’s finale?
Joshua Ledet kicked off tonight’s show with a song that judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson chose for him. They felt Etta James’ “I’d Rather be Blind” was the perfect fit for him because the song is full of emotion and showcases Joshua’s ability to “throw back.” Randy put it best when he said “Why fix what’s not broken?” Read more & comment »

American Idol is up for a face lift according to Fox Executive Kevin Reilly. This year the show suffered majorly in ratings due to competition from NBC’s The Voice. However, the execs are not afraid to admit that the longer the show is on air, the harder it is to get people to tune in.
Reilly would not comment on if the judges would be replaced after a less-than-stellar year, only saying that the network is pleased with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. We can guarantee that host Ryan Seacrest will return next season, but the judges are still in limbo. According to E! News Jennifer Lopez is thinking about coming back, but no guarantees (sound familiar? Like oh say.. last season’s response?). Read more & comment »

The American Idol finale is one of the biggest parties of the season. Every year the line up gets bigger and bigger. Last year we were entertained with a steamy Latin dance from Jennifer Lopez and (almost) ex-hubby Marc Anthony as well as a performance from Steven Tyler. This year fans can expect not only performances from the top 10 contestants, but Aerosmith and Rihanna as well. Read more & comment »

It’s a new chapter in the career of one former American Idol.
David Cook stopped by American Idol last to unveil his latest single “The Last Song I’ll Write for You.” Not too shabby of a platform for someone who is currently unsigned.
Yes, that’s right. The season seven winner is officially independently releasing his own music. Read more & comment »

It’s so hard to say goodbye to any of the American Idol contestants, but unfortunately someone has to go home each week. The stakes were high because the final three win the hometown visit. You know, the part where the contestants go home and cry their eyes out as their hometown shows some love?
The show started with a Ford commercial that featured only three of the Idol contestants (Phillip Phillips must have been sick). Ryan Seacrest then went into the feedback from Jimmy Iovine about last night’s performance. He first said that Phillip showed the artist he wants to be last night when he took not one, but two risks with his performances. Hollie Cavanagh was second to hear that Jimmy thought her over singing worked well with “Faithfully,” but she fell hard with “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Read more & comment »

Jessica Sanchez gave us a peak into her singing career, dating back to when she was only seven years old. Back when she was a child mimicking her favorite artists she even had the growl. “I literally can do nothing but sing, that’s why I’m here,” Jessica shared. The shy singer admitted that American Idol’s been good to her in other ways, too. “American Idol made me open up more. I never met people with passion like me.” Read more & comment »

Tonight Joshua Ledet proved the judges wrong as he performed Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” on American Idol. Last week Jennifer Lopez made the bold statement that Joshua is the best voice on the music scene in the last 50 years with Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson agreeing. However, she seem to forgot Josh Groban. Read more & comment »
